Unity’s current billing pages set a minimum deposit of $1,000 for credit cards and third-party payment platforms. If you want to deposit more than $10,000, you contact your account manager. In this article, “deposit” means a prepayment into your Unity organization budget, which is what the Add funds flow in the dashboard does.

Minimum deposit and payment methods

According to Unity’s intro to billing, you prepay campaigns by adding funds to your organization budget. You reach the budget from the Billing page of the dashboard. You can add funds with a credit card or Alipay. The minimum deposit for credit cards and third-party payment platforms is $1,000 USD. The same page says monetization revenue can be transferred in.

Unity’s add funds page describes the flow: enter the deposit amount and select Submit. It states the minimum as $1000, without naming a method.

Method What the add funds page says
Card Listed as a method
Bank transfer Available only to customers in the United States who have Link, a Stripe payment service, enabled
Alipay Listed as a method; you pay with a QR code

The intro page ties the $1,000 minimum to cards and third-party platforms. The add funds page gives $1000 without a method. Neither page says whether a bank transfer is treated differently, so check the form in your own dashboard.

Deposits above $10,000

The intro page says to contact your account manager if you want to deposit more than $10,000 USD. The pages we read don’t state a maximum, a processing time or what an account manager can change.

Post payments for managed accounts

According to the intro page, advertisers with managed accounts can work with a client partner to set up post payments. These accounts use a credit line to fund the organization budget and pay monthly. Access depends on the advertiser’s payment history. With post payments, the dashboard shows a credit limit instead of a balance, and shows Out of credit when you exceed it. The pages don’t say how payment history is judged or what the limits are.

What you pay for: CPI and CPM billing

The intro page describes two billing types:

Billing Campaign types You pay for
CPM Creative Testing Every 1000 impressions (also called Starts)
CPI Install, Return on Ad Spend, Event Optimization Converted installs only

There is one rule to watch. If a CPI campaign accrues more than 10k impressions (starts) without any installs in the last 24 hours, Unity converts it to CPM billing. The page doesn’t say why a campaign would get no installs, so treat a spend line that moves without installs as a signal to look at the campaign.

Campaign budget and daily budget rules

Unity’s billing pages say Unity pauses ad delivery when a campaign reaches its daily or total campaign budget. Unity’s budget best practices page adds:

  • The dashboard recommends a minimum campaign budget and a minimum daily budget, based on the billing type, the number of creatives assigned and the countries targeted.
  • Set a campaign budget of at least five times the daily budget.
  • If you activate a daily budget, you must also set a campaign budget.
  • For a daily target, aim for one-seventh of the weekly spend you want.
  • After you change a budget mid-campaign, it takes about seven days for the system to respect the new weekly budget accurately.

Example in symbols: if you want a weekly spend of W, set the daily budget near W/7 and the campaign budget to at least 5 x (W/7). Setting these on dozens of campaigns by hand is slow; bulk campaign management in Unity Ads covers the options.

What the docs don’t say

  • The per-campaign recommended minimums are shown only in the dashboard. The docs give no numbers.
  • Currencies other than USD are not mentioned.
  • Refunds, invoices and tax handling are not covered.
  • A minimum for anything other than card and third-party deposits is not mentioned.
  • Nothing is said about what happens when prepaid funds run out, beyond delivery pausing at budget limits.
  • The add funds page does not say whether limits differ for managed and self-serve accounts.

Pages differ in age: check Billing in your dashboard

An older Unity page on paying by credit card (it showed “Last updated a year ago”) describes the card steps and USD amounts as plain numbers, and states no minimum. The two pages above are the current ones, and we used them. Before you plan a first deposit, open the Billing page in your own Unity dashboard and read the amount it shows.

Where DarkCore Ramet fits

DarkCore Ramet does not top up Unity budgets; you fund the organization budget in Unity. Once campaigns run, analytics shows spend, installs and CPI from Unity by day, grouped by campaign, geo, app or source, and spend refreshes hourly. With several Unity organizations, you can connect them as cabinets.

In DarkCore Ramet

Watch spend across cabinets once the budget is funded

DarkCore Ramet shows spend, installs and CPI from Unity by day; spend refreshes hourly. It does not top up Unity budgets.
